Meth Lab Seized At West Gaines Property

A meth lab was seized and one man arrested after law enforcement officials received a tip last week indicating that methamphetamine was being manufactured at a business located at the West Gaines Street/Buffalo Road intersection.

Investigators with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit made their way to the garage on Wednesday. The caller had reported that an active meth lab was being operated inside the business at that time.

Drug agents report that upon their arrival they made contact with Kristopher Donald Houser, age 35. Houser gave consent for a search of the premises. During the ensuing search agents report finding an active one pot, shake bottle in a back room.

The meth production had resulted in a strong, potentially hazardous chemical odor and agents were forced to use respirators to re-enter the building to open doors to allow for ventilation.

Members of the Lawrenceburg Fire Department were summoned to complete a decontamination process, required before Houser could be moved.

While conducting a search of the premises, agents report finding numerous other lab components, including some that had been concealed inside a garbage bag.

The contraband was seized along with a 2010 Polaris RZR believed to have been obtained through the proceeds of illegal drug sales.

Houser was taken to the Lawrence County Detention Center and jailed under charges of initiation of a process intended to result in the manufacture of methamphetamine, promotion of meth manufacturing, possession of Schedule IV narcotics, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
